Share Some Candy

I found another great art blog I wanted to share with you. It’s call Share Some Candy. What is it? Here’s how they put it:

sharesomecandy is a curated collective of inspiring design finds and art. the content is appropriate for all audiences – 9-99. criteria for inclusion are finds that are universally inspiring, beautiful and thought provoking. every image is referenced to its found location through a ‘via’ link.

Basically a site loaded with all kinds of inspirational art. The stop-motion animation below is an example of the kids of work you’ll find on there.

I should also take this moment to apologize to all those Lollgygaggin readers out there. I am well aware of the fact that I haven’t posted in a very long time. Sad when stuff like this gets put on the side burner. Where has my time been spent? Well, with a new puppy, a sick pregnant wife, 3 year old and battling through an overload of work at my paying gig. Still not a legit excuse. Luckily the creative bug is firing up inside and hopefully to the point where I can’t hold it back. So expect to see me back at it again soon.

Channel Frederator Awards

channel frederator awards

The nominees for the 2nd annual Channel Frederator Awards. The Freddie awards user submitted cartoons that have appeared on Channel Frederator through out the past year. Lots of great nominees this year including the classic Weird Al, ‘Trapped in the Drive-Thru’ video that I posted a while back. And another one called ‘Make Mine Shoebox’  from one of my favorite artists, Chris Harding of We the Robots fame (best comic on the web). So head on over and cast your vote.

The Flashforward conference was in Boston last week. So I was able to attend the Film Festival which showcased some great work in a variety of categories. It was a fun event and I’m looking forward to catching the next one. Some notable winners include:
Arj & Poopy, winner in the Cartoon category
Creep, winner in the Art category
30 Shorts in 30 Days, winner of the People Choice award (still featured above).
You can check out all the winners and finalists on the Flashforward site.

Time to beef up your library

cheat in flash

Here’s a must have book for Flash animators that just hit bookstores this week. It was written by Chris Georgenes a successfully animator who is also based out here in Boston. He has been a tremendous help to animators out there sharing his secrets through Adobe tutorials, conference presentations, on his blog and now this book. I haven’t read it yet, just got it this week. But it covers all the basics and is a great resource. I just wish I had this in my hand many years ago. So a big thanks to Chirrs for this one and for those who haven’t seen his stuff it all worth a look.
