Steve Martin interviews Roz Chast

Here’s a can’t miss interview with Roz Chast a fantastic comic artist whose work appears in the New Yorker. They discuss her thirty year career and showcase some of her classics. She has a book out called Theories of Everything that is a collection of her work. Funny comics are extremely rare so it’s great to see there is another great artist out there to rival the great Gary Larson.

I love Roz Chast and her work. She’s a remarkable and wonderfully “everyday” urban cartoonist. I can identify w/her female characters–like the one who gets hopelessly lost trying to take a relaxing drive away from NYC in a rental car. Roz does a great job being interviewed by Steve Martin. Unfortunately, Martin somehow reveals he’s a tad miffed about not being the one interviewed. It’s clear he needs to be the center of attention when, actually, he’s pretty boring and controlling. So, yes, I’m a great fan of Chast and have her books; with Steve Martin, not so much. Too bad there wasn’t another interveiwer available on short notice that morning!! More fun w/Roz; less talk talk talk by Martin.
